Roofing...

Ekoroof is a product manufacturer and supplier. We are not roofing contractors, so we do not hold a roofing license. We supply our products direct to Licensed Roofing Contractors that are trained by us for proper installation.

If you're a homeowner looking for an Ekoroof Contractor, or if you are a Contractor that would like to get certified, we can help. Reach out to us!

Our patented manufacturing process includes a UV-blocking additive to withstand extreme sunlight. Ekoroof's performance under sunlight has been verified by our accelerated weather laboratory testing and real-world results. Ekoroof is suitable for use in any kind of weather.

Due to the minerals added to the formula, Ekoroof is very strong and flexible and will not break under normal conditions. There is also a limited 50-year warranty available, so failures due to materials or workmanship are covered. The product has been designed and tested to exceed the safety standards required by the Miami-Dade County (Florida) building and hurricane code.

No, Ekoroof is non-porous, the tile acts like any other plastic item, which will not absorb moisture or humidity. This is significant because they will not rot - and more importantly, will not crack like concrete or clay tiles tend to do when the water in them freezes in cold climates.

No, Ekoroof will not create or house mold or mildew so there is no need to pressure clean it. As of 2024, we have installations that are two decades old that have never needed a cleaning!

Ekoroof has a certain shine when new, which weathers to become more matte within the first year or two. Once weathered, it looks just like a new high-end clay tile, which has an elegant sheen. This natural, “new clay look” will be maintained for decades.

Ekoroof is colored with pigments that will not fade. The tiles are also protected with our proprietary formula which includes UV blocking additives to protect the tiles from sun damage. Remember that the tiles are made from recycled plastic, so some fading might occur over time to the original coloring that was present in the raw material. This fading be very minimal, uniform, and very likely unnoticed.

For peace of mind, our available 50-year limited warranty also protects your roof against uneven or extreme fading.

Ekoroof tiles can be effortlessly cut using a regular manual saw with fine teeth to fit your particular need. The material handles much like wood. We find that electrical oscillating tools are safer and faster. Any power tool with a fine-toothed blade, like the kind used for metal will also do the trick. Be sure to always follow safety guidelines, use work gloves, and wear your eye protection!

No. When properly installed, the hardware used for installation makes a perfect seal that will not allow water to penetrate the tiles. Additionally, the installation system is similar to other proven roofing applications, such as metal, and by no means experimental.

In fact, Ekoroof is considered a "metal roof" in the building code, because it is installed in the same manner.

No, and that's part of the beauty of Ekoroof! Our product weighs less than most asphalt shingles. If you currently have shingles, you would need to reinforce your roof if you are going to install concrete or clay tiles. This is due to the fact that concrete and clay are much heavier than shingles. Ekoroof is approximately 1 to 2 lbs less per square foot than shingles!

If you live in a northern latitude, you also have to account for the tremendous weight of any snow or ice that accumulates on the roof. However, the light weight Ekoroof plastic tile allows for easy installation that does not require reinforcement to your existing roof structure whether you currently have shingles or clay. This allows you to have the look of concrete or clay without breaking the bank to heavily modify your roofing structure.

A traditional Ecoroof, or Eco-roof as it is sometimes spelled, is a natural roofing system where vegetated roof coverings consisting of a thin layer of living plants is installed on top of a specially designed or modified roof system. They are also sometimes referred to as green roof systems, because they replace traditional rooftops with a series of plant layers - making these roofing systems literally green.

Our approach to Green Roofing is a little different, utilizing recycled agricultural plastic as our "green" quality. Because we do things a little different here, we spell Ekoroof a little differently, and proudly with a "K"! Up until July 2024, Ekoroof has been manufactured in Costa Rica for export only. We will begin sales of Ekoroof products in Costa Rica soon!
